Chania Airport (50km) is the closest. Kissamos has limited rental desks — book for hotel delivery or pick up in Chania. July and August sell out; book early.

May, June, and September are perfect — warm water, manageable crowds, reasonable prices. July and August bring heavy traffic to Balos and Elafonissi; go early. October offers warm seas and empty beaches.
